Hey! So Glad You're Here.

Welcome to my idea spot.  The last several years have been a transition in my life.  I would have to say the transition started in 2014 when our wonderful neighbor Anne, whom I call my Memphis Mom, introduced us to a lake she has a cabin on.  The third time we visited Grand Valley Lake with Anne, my BFF stated we needed a slice of this heaven!  So the search began...either a lakefront lot or a lakefront home.  Ultimately we bought the lakefront lot.  We went back and forth between lot or home, but could not find all the things we wanted in an existing home.  After meeting with the local builder everyone recommended, we also decided the price point was not that different if we kept to a budget.  We originally wanted a cabin like Anne's, but discovered for cedar or spruce the price point really jumped, and we did not hear favorable reviews on pine (too much maintenance).  So I convinced Lei, my BFF that we could build a modern home with lots of wood accents (my best sales job ever).  We bought the lot on Sept. 11, 2015, cleared the lot in 2016, built the dock in 2017 and the builder broke ground June 1, 2018.  The beginning of this blog will  walk you through the process of building this dream.  When we are done with that....only our imagination will know where to go...  The picture above is of me and my family.  Sadly I lost my Mom several months after our dream home was complete.  Thank goodness she got to visit it twice before she gained her wings.  I'll never forget the look of pure joy the first time she walked in the door!  I like to thank she is enjoying the screen porches as much today as she did then!  She was my mentor, bff, and the best mom in the world, so we will talk more about her in the story of the lakehouse & me.  I hope you enjoy!

Dawn (better known as DW - pronounced DeeDub to many of my lifelong friends)
